Dear Seattle Women in Black and friends,
Seattle Women in Black is in its 7th year of vigils at Westlake. We stand every Thursday, rain or
shine, from 5-6 p.m.
Please join us this Thursday, 8/28/08, 5-6 PM. We will vigil, as usual, at Westlake Plaza.
Following you will find a list of UPCOMING EVENTS with a focus on Afghanistan, Iraq,
Israel/Palestine or the local homeless community. Please also note the list of regional Women in
Black vigils after this week's calendar. We encourage you to find an event that fits your
location, schedule, and interests, and JOIN IN! It is only when all of us join together to take
action at the grass roots level that we will reclaim our democracy and end the violence. TAG,
YOU'RE IT!

Be part of one of the most ambitious and innovative anti-war activities to date!
United for Peace and Justice is partnering with US Action/True Majority, Win Without War, and other
organizations to make this day the biggest peace action of 2008. Volunteer doorknockers will ask
people to sign an antiwar petition directed to Congress. Our message: End this immoral war, bring our
troops home, and invest in America's future. In addition, we will encourage people to join local
anti-war groups, engage in voter education work, and become a part of the organized antiwar movement in their area.
Training materials, petitions, local groups to canvass with in your area, lists of neighbors’ doors to knock, and
handouts will be provided. http://www.milliondoorsforpeace.org/signup.php?code=ufp
